Mandate: The Manitoba Masonic Archives is mandated, by resolution of the Board of General Purposes of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba, to receive, restore and preserve for posterity the historical records of the Grand Lodge of Manitoba, A.F. & A.M. and to make those records available to all who have a legitimate reason for accessing them and are, according to principles established in the Administration Manual of the Archives, entitled to do so.

The holdings of the Manitoba Masonic Archives consists of:

  • Formation documents of 126 lodges in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta

  • Membership Registers of Grand Lodge (Provincial registers)

  • Membership Registers of constituent (local) lodges

  • Attendance Registers of local lodges

  • Minute Books of Grand Lodge Board of General Purposes

  • Minute Books of Grand Lodge Annual Communications

  • Minute Books of local lodges

  • Historical Registers of lodges

  • Petitions for Initiation, Affiliation and Restoration

  • Reports to Grand Lodge

  • general correspondence.

  • Membership Certificates and Lodge Charters

NOTE: Although the Manitoba Masonic Archives is the private collection of a fraternal organization, a large portion of the collection is open to the general public. Access to some documents such as lodge minute books is restricted to members currently in good standing of a recognized Masonic lodge. If you believe that information for which you are searching might be contained in documents within this collection you are encouraged to make your inquiries known to the curator or through the Grand Lodge office. The Grand Lodge of Manitoba reserves the right to restrict access to any or all parts of this collection.
